The HipHop Academy is a unique non-profit project for young HipHop artists in Hamburg and beyond. Since 2007, the Academy offers young artists the opportunity to participate in workshops all around the HipHop culture:

  • Graffiti
  • Beatbox
  • Rap
  • Production
  • DJ-ing
  • Newstyle, and
  • Breakdance.

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm -  Indo-German Hip Hop Week B - Boy Workshop (Akim Walta)


The Academy`s pupils are assisted to gradually move on from beginners status to a professional level. All trainers and coaches of the HipHop Academy solely consist of famous and prestigious HipHop artists of Germany, the Academy`s team of trainers is the best in the entire country. Moreover, the project provides special workshops with leading HipHop artists from all over the world on a regular basis.

One of the main goals of the project is to create dance theatre pieces, CDs and shows with its participants in order to perform them on stages in Germany and all over the world. Furthermore, the Academy is committed to establish ties especially with outskirts and hot spots of the city in order to uncover and qualify hidden potentials. The project is devoted to advance the boundaries of HipHop culture and bring people from various social and cultural backrounds together. The Academy utilizes the creative and educational force of HipHop to unify the many facets of Hamburgs melting pot. For its innovative work the HipHop Academy has received several awards. Currently, the Academy is present in over 40 different locations all over Hamburg, with more than 550 participants.
