It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the IGCC-SME Pavilion of the Indo-German Urban Mela. In Germany, 96% of the companies are SMEs, in most of the cases, family-owned and run, and very often in second or third generation. In many cases they are hidden-champions - global leaders in their niche. In our Mumbai pavilion we had typical examples of this worldwide phenomenon like Schuler, a world market leader in Automotive presses, or SGL Carbon for light weight car parts, and Wuerth a world leader in screws. In India even a company like ThyssenKrupp is an SME by market share but a technology leader. German trade-fairs like NürnbergMesse also may be global champions but looking at the number of people employed or their annual turn-over, they are like family businesses. Nothing works without education, and this is why the Deutsche Schule Mumbai, the oldest International school in the city was also present - another jewel of an SME. In Bangalore our SME partners were: EFD who is the world's number two induction heating company, TÜVRheinland, the leading provider of technical services worldwide, Festo - one of the most trusted names in automation and motion control technology, CLAAS who started manufacturing its combine harvesters in India in 1991, Invest-in-Bavaria who provide assistance for setting up offices in Bavaria and helps investors make the best decisions, Rittal India - a 100 % subsidiary of Rittal GmbH & Co. KG, Germany , which manufactures more than 300 large enclosures, 500 small enclosures & 50 cooling units per day from their production facility in Bangalore and NürnbergMesse. In Chennai Wuerth and Nürnberg partnered again with the IGCC.
Thank you for visiting the Indo-German Urban Mela.
