The engagement of Deutsche Post DHL in India is as manifold as the country is. Exemplary might be the implementation of the DHL SmartTruck in regard to City Logistics as well as a comprehensive cooperation in the context of our responsibility strategy. DHL City Logistics is an integrated approach for urban transport. It promotes schemes that reduce total cost of goods movement within cities. The program is a major project to support cities in the challenging time of increasing megacities and growing traffic and CO2-Emissions.
Within the context of this global urbanisation program, Blue Dart, part of the DHL group, and the innovation department of DHL started successfully a pilot in Bengaluru with the adapted innovation DHL SmartTruck, to improve service quality, cut costs, reduce time and CO2 emissions in emerging market conditions.
In 2010, Deutsche Post DHL began its global partnership with the non-profit education initiative Teach For All, which, as of today, consists of a worldwide network of 23 partner organizations – one of them also in India which is a very good example of the cooperation between Deutsche Post DHL and Teach For All. Partnering with Teach For India, more than 800 DHL employees have organized several donation drives e.g. for used computers and stationery items to facilitate classroom learning. As part of Deutsche Post DHL’s Global Volunteer Day 2011, DHL employees in India volunteered with Teach For India schools in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune.
