On the occasion of completing 60 years of Indo-German diplomatic relations, a collaborative celebration titled “Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities” was being held in India. The programme started in September 2011 and continued until early 2013.

The Indo-German Urban Mela was at the core of the year of celebrations bettween the two countries, "Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities." Conceptualised by internationally renowned German artist Markus Heinsdorff, the pavilions incorporated the best of German and Indian innovation and design. Over the 10 days, the pavilions hosted interactive presentations by German corporations and organisations on topics and solutions related to "StadtRaume - City Spaces".

Over 1,50,000 people visited iconic festival over 10 days.

The Raghu Dixit Project in their trademark colourful dhotis and shirts, with energetic folk rock music, kept the crowds on their feet throughout their performance tonight at the Indo-German Urban Mela.

Crowds kept pulling in at the Deccan College Ground to groove to Pune’s very own rock band Agnee at the Indo-German Urban Mela today. Beginning the gig with their trademark Roadies theme-song 'Manmani', the band went on to interact with the crowd and render other popular numbers like Sadho Re, Aahatein and Ranjhan Yaar Di.

The contest runs online on Facebook, as well as at the venue of the Indo-German Urban Mela in each of the 5 cities.

Chennai grooved to the Eletronica act of Apparat on August 28th at the Indo German Urban Mela. As part of the collaborative celebration of the "Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities", to mark 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two, this tour has already presented richly textured, emotional electronica and heavy sci-fi soul in Mumbai and Kolkata before enthralling the audience in Chennai.

The YMCA College of Physical Education, Nandanam this weekend was abuzz with Chennaiites from all across the city flocking the venue for the opening weekend of the much-awaited Indo-German Urban Mela. With its opening on August 24th, 2012, the Urban Mela has seen over 22,000 visitors already.
