The Indo-German Urban Mela - a unique blend of technology, science, culture and entertainment - was inaugurated on April 13th, 2012 at Cross Maidan Garden. On until April 22nd, 2012 in Mumbai, this urban extravaganza is part of the celebrations titled “Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities” that commemorate 60 years of the establishment of Indo- German diplomatic ties.

A high ranking business delegation from the city of Stuttgart, accompanied by the Mayor of Stuttgart, Dr. Wolfgang Schuster, is visiting India from 16th to 21st January 2012. The delegation will start their India tour from Delhi on the 16th and thereafter proceed to Ahmedabad and Pune. The visit will conclude in Mumbai on the 21st of January 2012.

Germany‘s fascination with India dates back centuries. Initially, the main focus was on studying the history, culture and language of the country. Despite the undisputed merits of German poets and authors like Heine, philosophers like Schlegel and indologists like Max Mueller, this altruistic approach is now a thing of the past. Since the year 2000, a strategic partnership has been in place between Germany and India. After her first visit in 2007, German Chancellor Merkel returned to India again in May 2011. The course was set for the further development of German-Indian relations during the first bilateral government consultations.
